Lip Gloss & Lunges

|| 1 || MORE || …Of The Fit Woman’s Secrets by Lorna Jane. The day I met Lorna Jane, I bought her new book (and got it signed!). I’ve loved reading her story, her inspirations and her personal experiences on Active Living.

|| 2 || JASON Soothing Aloe Vera || My daily secret weapon for instant dry skin relief. Not just for a bad sunburn, this non-oily moisturizing also gel helps to calm and renew dry, irritated and freshly shaven skin. Plus all the ingredients are all natural and certified organic!

|| 3 || Green Tea || In effort to reduce my coffee intake, I’ve found myself craving a warm beverage first thing in the morning and before bed. Green tea is beyond a superfood, promoting healthy heart and brain function, aiding in weight loss and reducing stress, and preventing cancer and diabetes. Drink up!

|| 4 || The Bachelorette || I don’t care how cheesy it gets, as long as The Bachelorette is airing, I will watch it.

|| 5 || Asics || Move over Nike Free’s! This is my new favorite cross training shoe. Insane comfort and support, major cushioning and durability. These shoes actually make me look forward to my next workout. Can’t get enough.

|| 6 || MacBook Air || A blogger’s dream. When my hubby came home with this last week, I literally squealed. You know what they say: “Once you go MAC…”

Questions:

What are some of your favorite things right now?
Do you watch The Bachelor/ette?
Are you a MAC or PC person?

Do Something Uncomfortable Today

af42c5e356ce996b8c98eb37c227e2d3I mean… sometimes it’s easy to get stuck in a rut. Day in and day out.

For me, the weekdays are like clockwork. I go to work, workout, come home, walk my dogs, make dinner, clean up, read, and go to bed.

BORING! Life is too short to be so predictable. But you know what? I am a creature of habit and I love routine.

Well, I’m working on stepping outside the box these days. Doing some things I don’t normally do. Like: once a week (during the week) my hubby and I declare a date night. The key has been that it must be on a weekday. Weekends are mostly playtime for us, so making that switch is honestly a big change. It brightens my week and gives us something to look forward to. That designated time together, without the TV on, has been miraculous.

I know that it’s something so little. But all these little things add up and in the end make us who we are. They change us. Our mentality, our spirit, our perspective,

Doing something uncomfortable means something different for everyone. For me, it’s getting out of my routine and changing things up. And yes, adding a date night means I am forced to schedule in a rest day. Something that also makes me uncomfortable.

Doing something uncomfortable could look like:

smiling at a stranger

adopting a puppy

speaking up at work

quitting your job // starting a business

inviting someone to lunch

saying no // not over-committing

saving your money

joining a new gym // taking a break from working out

reading instead of watching tv

packing your lunches

Question: What small change can you make in your life, even if it’s a little uncomfortable?

Back to Reality

I’m back from an amazing road trip with my hubby and our pups!

We spent an extra long weekend in the Bay Area, and attended my Aunt’s wedding at Wente Vineyards on Sunday. The trip with filled with lots of laughs and family time, not to mention plenty of wine, delicious food, cocktails, more wine, and a perm-smile. Successful vacation in my book!

Now its back to reality.

And by reality I mean: a 5:30am alarm clock and 3 days of work to get caught up on. Today is my Monday.

Back to my healthy nutrition and fitness routine. After 4 days of indulging, let me tell you, a green smoothie never tasted so good.

On top of that, Mark and I are starting a new fitness program this week. It’s called Fit Wall, a 40 minute bootcamp style/small group class of high intensity interval training with individualized coaches and some crazy new technology.

I’ll let you know if it’s really all they crack it up to be.

Stay tuned for a review on this workout soon!

I have to admit I am really stoked to try this new workout, but a little unsure about working out with my hubby. It’s been years since we exercised in a gym together.

A few photos to share from the beautiful wedding…

We got bikes!

photo 2

I’m so excited to share that Mark and I finally splurged on a perfect pair of brand new beach cruisers!

It’s starting to feel more and more like summer in San Diego, and we figured getting bikes would be a great way to kick off the sunny season. We know we’ll be riding them a ton, especially over the next 6+ months as the weather warms up. And this time of year, (or all the time, really) the beach is where it’s at. There’s nowhere else we’d rather be.

We took them out all day on Sunday, biked from Pacific Beach to La Jolla Cove, had lunch and rode back. That’s like 14 miles! Great exercise and SO FUN!

I can honestly say I feel most alive when I’m on a bike. While I don’t take my biking too seriously (unless I’m in a spin class!), I find it so relaxing just cruising up and down the beautiful Southern California coast. And I can’t seem to wipe the smile off my face.

Do you have a bike? What kind of biking do you like to do (beach cruising, mountain biking, cycling, spin class – that counts too!)?

April Favorite Things

collage

|| 1 || Maxi Tank Dress || Perfect for transitioning into the warmer days of spring and summer. Just throw on a breezy cardigan or denim jacket on a chilly night.

|| 2 || Copper Watering Can || Isn’t this dainty watering can the cutest? Not only is it functional for tending to your indoor plants, it doubles as chic home decor.

|| 3 || Body Butter ||  Channelling my inner 7th grade girl on this one. An oldie but a goodie. I’m loving the Shea Butter because it has just enough hint of the light Shea scent.

|| 4 || Wedge Sandals || Max height in these babies. A natural, earthy sandal with eye-catching style, and goes with just about everything in my spring and summer wardrobe.

|| 5 || Satin Lip Pencil || An orange lip is HUGE right now. Rock this look with minimal eye makeup. I use this lip pencil as a full lip color. The satin texture lasts all day since you don’t need a gloss.

|| 6 || Fresh Flowers || Something this simple can brighten the dullest days. I keep fresh flowers in my house and in my workspace. Even if that means buying them for myself!

What are some of your favorites right now??

Also, have you entered my giveaway yet? Winner gets a FREE WEEK of MEALS!!
